TIME was one of the only publications with a writer at the Ed Sullivan Theater the day the Beatles became a phenomenon. A TIME reporter debated Bob Dylan in Don't Look Back and another followed Bruce Springsteen's rise through the rock clubs on the Jersey Shore. The All-TIME 100 Albums isn't a list of the 100 greatest albums nor is it a list of our personal favorites. No, The All-TIME 100 Albums is about permanence as in: a record that stands literally for all-time, like Sgt. Peppers and importance a record that you may not know, but that reshaped the course of music somehow.
